Perfect Match: Should I Choose a Manual or Electric Jack Plate
Share
Your choice of a manual or electric jack plate depends on your preference and boating needs. On The Fly offers two high-performance options:
- Manual Jack Plate: Simple and effective, our manual jack plate is lightweight, requires no batteries or wiring, and delivers the same high-quality adjustment capabilities as an electric jack plate. Plus, it’s the only manual jack plate on the market adjustable while the boat is in motion.
- Electric Jack Plate: For added ease, our electric jack plate provides motor height adjustments at the push of a button. It comes with all necessary components for a same-day setup, so you can be out on the water right away. Simply install it to your transom, connect the wires to the battery terminal, and enjoy instant adjustability.
How to Determine What Size Jack Plate You Need:
On The Fly Jack Plates offers both a Manual Jack Plate Size Guide and an Electric Jack Plate Size Guide to help you choose the right jack plate for your engine.
The two main factors in determining the correct size are:
- Motor Mounting Bracket Width – Measure your engine’s motor mounting bracket at its widest points. If the width exceeds 10 3/4 inches, you will need one of our Large Units.
- Engine Weight – Our Standard Units support up to 150 lbs, while our Large Units can handle up to 230 lbs.
Refer to the size guide provided under each product listing to ensure the best fit for your setup.
